Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-A-Thon Hour 24

Posted by noumena12 at 4:51 AM

Well I didn’t complete another book in this read-a-thon. However, I will include the book I’m currently reading in my total raised so I will be donating $100 to both Project Read and to Room to Read making it another $200 raised for literacy and making the total that I have raised for literacy programs during Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-A-Thon to $1955 (since April 2010). See it doesn’t take much to make a difference. Happy Reading to everyone who participated!

End of Read-A-Thon Mini Challenge
  1. Which hour was most daunting for you?
    Hour 20
  2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
I should have saved for late night.
  3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?
    (1) I really wish there was an easier way to interact with everyone participating. (2) I’d like to see more promotion of the Reading for Charity aspects. I’d help on both fronts. 229 people started the readathon; if we could harness that so every per raised just $100 that is $22,900 for non-profits.
  4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
Not sure. I feel like I interacted online less this year and I read fewer boosk.
  5. How many books did you read?
    3
  6. What were the names of the books you read?
    See below
  7. Which book did you enjoy most?
  8. Which did you enjoy least?
    Love and Lists (Chocoholics, #1)
  9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?
  10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
    Absolutely. Definitely Reader.

Thank you so much for being with us, and also for providing end-of-event feedback. We've seen a huge migration of participants to Twitter using the #readathon hashtag. That seems to be where a large chunk of the community is interacting, though we still push for good ole fashion blog comments. I hope we'll see you in April! --Andi, Organizer
