Review: Secret Pleasure
Secret Pleasure by Jill Sanders
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
I enjoyed reading this story in the Secret Series but there wasn't much suspense. Even though the story was fairly predictable, I enjoy the characters. Even the end of the story where Kathleen and Katie are together with Airlea...how did that happen? Did they reconcile their differences?
I'm hoping Secret Guardian (Secret Series, #3) isn't quite as obvious and predictable. Although, I am looking forward to seeing how Ethan integrates into the series.

Review: Cowboy Seeks Bride
Cowboy Seeks Bride by Carolyn Brown
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I loved that Haley is a strong heroine. Glad to be back in Texas with the O'Donnell family. No need to read the earlier books before reading this one...but you will probably want to go back and pick them up.
Favorite Line:
"If you are not the lead dog, the view never changes."

Review: The Next Best Thing
The Next Best Thing by Kristan Higgins
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
I can't believe how long it took me to reed this book. When it was first released in 2010, I started to read it and couldn't get into it. It popped up on my Amazon recommendations and I didn't look close enough to see that it was the same book. Really wish I hadn't picked it up...the actual story could have been much shorter...to much angst. I don't care for the heroine and the story left me with questions about Ethan's relationship with his parents. Their relationship issues suddenly settled. Curious about the addition of the dead husband lookalike.
Worst Thought in the Book:
"Life’s going to be a lot less complicated if you stay alone. It doesn’t sound very exciting, but there’s a lot to be said for playing it safe."
Favorite Line:
"There’s so much love in the world. Sadness, too, and heartbreak, but more than those, there are love and happiness and miracles of joy."

The third book in the Weekday Bride series finally resolves the tension between Gwen and Neil. I love that Bybee gives Gwen great character to be an equal to Neil. And I anticipate the next book will bring an interesting conclusion to Karen's wedding.

Review: The Marriage Merger
The Marriage Merger by Jennifer Probst
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I was definitely looking forward to Julietta's story. There were some great quotes from this story. My favorite: "Life is more than surviving, don’t you think? Life is about choices. Hard ones. There is something bigger than us out there, something called karma. Every good deed goes back into the universe, and every bad one reaps retribution. Maybe not here on Earth, but later."

Review: Tempted into Danger
Tempted into Danger by Melissa Cutler
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
First let me say that I will probably read the next book in the series. Having said that, I'm not sure there was anything particularly special about this story. And it didn't always seem very believable. But I'm a fan of romantic suspense so I will probably give Black Ops Defenders another try.
For a book published in 2013, I was surprised to see a reference to a "zip drive." That is so 1990's.
